The open call for the production and exhibition of new artistic work titled Tvornica has, for nearly a decade, provided artists the opportunity to dedicate themselves to creation under stable conditions. The concept of the Tvornica is closely linked with the general lack of spatial and financial conditions for developing works that are not necessarily profitable.
Tvornica 2024 embodies the GMK mission: to encourage artist action and the production of works aimed at creating a vibrant place for free, open dialogue, cultural exchange, and production. As in previous years, the call is reserved for works in their infancy, ideas and concepts that have yet to be realized. Independent artists or artistic collectives can apply, and there is no requirement to be a member of a professional association or HZSU.
The selected applicant will receive advisory support from GMK curators in the contemplation and realization of their work, access to all gallery resources, and financial support for the realization of their work and its presentation as part of the gallery program in December 2024. The funds for the production and exhibition of the selected work amount to €3,000.
OPEN CALL GENERAL CONDITIONS
The call is open to artists and other interested parties who primarily live and work in Zagreb (or can allocate time to work on the project in Zagreb), with the condition that the applicant can submit a maximum of one project. All interested parties can apply regardless of age, formal education, previous exhibitions, etc.
Application must include:

- Address (of one) of the authors
- Curriculum vitae
- Portfolio
- Phone or mobile (of one) of the authors
- Email (of one) of the authors
- TEXTUAL AND VISUAL MATERIALS
- A short textual description of the work, authorial conception, or project (up to 2 pages of text) in PDF format
- Visual supplement (maximum five) in jpg or pdf format
- An approximate specification of the work or project costs
All visuals must be archived together as a .zip format, named work_name.zip, uploaded via WeTransfer, JumboMail, or SendSpace, and sent to the application email. The deadline for submitting applications to the call is April 10, 2024.

Works can be submitted via email to info@g-mk.hr with the note “For the open call”.
Proposals that do not arrive by email by the given deadline, as well as proposals with incomplete documentation, will not be considered. The author will be notified via email about the outcome of the open call at the beginning of May, and the results will then be published on the gallery’s website.
