The exhibition focuses on two aspects: a conceptual approach to art and the incorporation of the experience of the real into art, i.e. two layers of the same thing: real fiction and conceptual fiction. The practices of the Czeck artists represented at the exhibition evolves from explorations in social space, detections of non-linearity, reconstructions and re-evaluation of memory, establishing new relations and exploring the ‘lower degrees of the ordinary’.
The featured works are a direct reaction to a social context – artists comment on the experiences resulting from the everyday in a an unspectacular way without direct involvement – revealing and creating voids and gaps in public space – in a radical and delicate way at the same time. Special attention is given to the works of Jiøí Kovanda, artist of the second generation of Czeck “actionism” of the late 70s, whose minimalistic actions, interventions into the everyday and works of ephemeral nature have served as a basis for the concept of the exhibition. <\/p>\n

Display is state-independent and non-profit space for contemporary visual art in Prague, founded in 2001, focused on presenting international artists and promoting a younger generation of Czeck artists, developing international partnerships and initiating long-term collaborative projects with other European spaces for contemporary art.
