Artist, writer and human rights organizer from Brazil, 1961.

– Founder of the Brazilian Information Center in New York, documentation and publication of human rights abuses in Brazil.
– Representative of Brazilian indigenous peoples to the United Nations’ Human Rights Committee in Geneva. Alves presented the first documentation on human rights violations of indigenous peoples of Brazil to the United Nations.
– Liason in New York (1981) for Partido dos Trabalhadores (Workers’ Party).
– Co -founder of the Partido Verde (Green Party) of Sao Paulo, Brazil(1987).
