Studio 1na1: Victoria Bucul selected for the residency

Designer Victoria Bucul has been selected for this year’s Studio 1na1 mentorship residency. During autumn 2026, she will work with mentor Andro Giunio and the team at Galerija Miroslav Kraljević to develop an artist-led publication marking the gallery’s 40th anniversary.

The programme brings together emerging practitioners and established professionals through a collaborative process of research and production. This year’s edition focuses on the publication as a site of visual and artistic experimentation.

Victoria Bucul holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Visual Communications at the School of Design in Zagreb. Her practice centres on illustration and visual communication, with a particular interest in publications, visual narratives, analogue printing and independent publishing. She explores social themes and everyday life, often drawing on observations and fragments of her immediate surroundings. Her work has been presented at exhibitions, workshops and festivals in Zagreb, Pula, Split, Šibenik, Cetinje and Barcelona.

About Studio 1na1

Studio 1na1 is a two-month mentorship, research and production programme for students, emerging artists, designers and practitioners at the beginning of their professional careers. The 2026 residency takes place at GMK’s 8-ica space and centres on the development of an original publication for the gallery’s 40th anniversary.

Working with the mentor and the gallery team, the selected participant develops the publication’s concept, visual language and structure, prepares it for print and takes part in its public presentation. Rather than a conventional documentary book, the publication is conceived as an independent printed artefact in which text, images, typography and layout shape the content together.
